Senate Pro-tempore Meets Chinese Envoy

 The President Pro-tempore of the Liberian Senate and Chairman of Gbarpolu County Legislative Caucus Sen. Armah Zolu Jallah has lauded the bilateral relationship which subsists between Liberia and Mainland China, which he said has accrued many dividends to both countries including reciprocal diplomatic ties, road construction, sports, and health. The Pro tem was speaking when he received in audience on Wednesday, July 5th at his Capitol Building Office, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China.In response the Chinese Ambassador accredited to Liberia said he is immensely satisfied with what he described as cordial relationship between both countries, especially in the areas of economic cooperation, peace and security.
Ambassador ZANG Yue disclosed that a consignment of assorted items assessed at US$2,000,000 (two Million USD) for used by the Liberia National Police is currently at the National Port Authority awaiting clearance.
Ambassador Yue also pointed out that his Government is considering some medical supplies for the Armed Forces of Liberia.
He further disclosed that his government is very highly contemplating on support for feeders’ roads to help farmers and villagers have access to the main road.
Speaking further, Senator Armah Zolu Jallah highlighted the involvement of the Armed Forces of Liberia in community development projects and said in fact the AFL are utilizing Chinese made yellow machines to construct a 15.5 kilometers road in Gou’Nwolalla District, Gbarpolu County to connect the district to surrounding towns and villages. He said roads are key factors in development because they help cut down on costs of travel and time and they facilitate the movement of goods and services, particularly to have medical supplies and agricultural produce reached the citizens.
In closing, Ambassador Yue promised to hold consultations with his Government to provide support to road construction in Liberia and promised to personally support feeder’s road projects in Gbarpolu and in other parts of Liberia. He said China will forever remain a friend to Liberia and help as much as they can. He cited as examples of China’s interventions in the Liberian economy, the RIA Project, the Ministerial Complex, and the Annex to the Capitol Building.
