Over twenty thousand delegates are expected to attend what is poised to be the “biggest” political convention to ever be held in Liberia. It’s the convention of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), a conglomeration of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), National Patriotic Party (NPP) and Liberia People Democratic Party (LPDP).
A desperate President Yahya Jammeh of the Gambia Sunday telephoned the chairperson of the regional bloc, Ecowas, and pleaded for assistance with Supreme Court judges to preside over his election petition. In a recorded phone conversation aired on state television with Liberia’s President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Mr Jammeh said he want to resolve the election dispute peacefully through the court in line with the provisions of the Gambian constitution.
Vice President Joseph N. Boakai has called for a new spirit of investment and commitment among Africans in which Africans will look inside the continent for the resolution of African problems through job creation.
